Understanding Immigration

Those people that are born in the United States often take for granted the liberties that we enjoy and how easy it is to actually live in this country. They have no clue how difficult it is to become a citizen if you are not born here. In fact, I would hazard a guess that out of 100 people that were born here and actually live in the United States of America less than 5 of them would be able to successfully pass a US citizenship exam. That is not because we are bad Americans but it is rather due to a combination of poor education as we are going through school and the fact that many of us just feel it is our right.

When you take into account that a good many people in this great country can’t even tell you which states are located where on a map it is somewhat scary. People that are trying to become residents go through the USCIS and the Green Card renewal process and end up answering questions that, even though they might not necessarily be relevant in today’s world, is something that everyone in our country should know.

While there are no actual magic ways for this information to be imparted, you simply need to sit down and read and retain the information that is a part of law and out countries history and heritage. The retention of that knowledge is all that is required to be able to pass the tests and be able to become a citizen.

The test actually doesn’t try to trick anyone. It also does not ask questions that have convoluted answers. They are merely questions designed to see how much you know about the government, the processes in this country and how the country was founded and forged through history. Again, this in something that any self respecting citizen or citizen to be should be wanting to learn and know because we all know that our futures are shaped by and destined to be driven by our past.

If we learn why things happened and what the consequences of those particular actions were then we are less likely to repeat the bad examples and more likely to concentrate on recreating the good. That is why it is so important for everyone, current naturally born citizens and those looking to immigrate to our country learn what has happened in the past and how those things have shaped this great country.

There is a lot to be learned in the process of acquiring the right to become a citizen of the United States and there is a lot of paperwork and forms that need to be done and lots of things need to be handled on a specific timetable in order for them to be useful and to be in accordance with the laws that govern immigration. For that reason it is imperative that anyone looking to do so fully understand what is going to be expected of them in the process.
